Lesson: Math for Kindergarten - Spring - April/May Skills - Bonus Clip Art!

Get ready for those Spring Math Skills!!

Our Kindergarten Math program comes with many ideas for Math Centers, but does not provide much in the way of printables. And while I think that hands-on opportunities are essential for math, I also feel the kiddos need experience in putting pencil to paper, especially before moving on to 1st grade.
This packet is Common Core aligned for the kindergarten math skills that are introduced/reviewed in April and May.
And as a special bonus - this packet comes with
FREE SPRING CRITTERS CLIP ART - just for fun!!
Use these 15 images to create your own worksheets, games, task cards, etc for Spring!

Check out the math related skills and standards:

These pages also contain Answer Sheets - so it is easy to make them into a 'self-checking' math center!

LINK: 'The Importance of Reading Aloud to Big Kids' by Melissa Taylor

Here is a great article to share with parents, perhaps during parent conferences.....

It exposes the key reasons to continue to read aloud with children, such as:
-experiencing the joy of a story
-builds awareness and empathy
-modeling fluent reading
-expanding their vocabulary
-exposure to new authors, texts and genres
-improves overall reading success
....which all leads to them more likely to keep reading on their own!

Observation Sheets for Spring Science

Make your Spring Science Center EXCITING!!

This is a set of Observation Sheets to go along with your Spring Science lessons. Your students will explore feathers, nests, eggs, bulbs, seeds, clouds, flower petals and do a Sink and Float activity. They will then record their observations on the printables included in this packet.
Recording includes drawing, circling the correct word, fill-in-the-blank and writing sentences.

Just collect the different items as you need them and place them at your Science Center for the children to explore and make observations. If some of the items are not readily available - simply provide photographs, resource books or the internet!

And don't forget to choose a nice, warm, Spring day for the cloud activity! This is a great one to follow up with a cloud art activity using white paint or cotton balls on blue paper. As well as extending the science aspect of it by completing a Cloud in a Bottle experiment. (directions readily available on line)
